FNJ Demands immediate action on journo murderer

Kathmandu, April 16:
The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has demanded immediate action on those involved in the murder of journalist Yadav Prasad Poudel. Unveiling the preliminary report of the high-level media mission formed to investigate into the murder, on Monday, FNJ Chairman Shiva Gaunle said the murder needs to be investigated fairly and the culprit brought to book immediately.
Executive Editor of the New Mechi Times, and district correspondent with the Avenues Television and the Rajdhani daily from Jhapa, Yadav Prasad Poudel, was found dead at Purvanchal Sekuwa Corner and Guest  House in the night of April 3.
The media mission prepared the report based on the conversations with the owner of the hotel, colleagues of slain journalist, and witnesses. Similarly, the mission talked with the police administration and those involved in the investigation, and concluded that the murder was coordinated.
The report of the media mission mentioned that the slain journalist Poudel had reported flesh trade in the Phewatal Hotel owned by Somnath Dhakal and Manju Dhakal (Phul Maya Karki) who now own Purvanchal Sekuwa Corner and Guest House. Journalist Poudel was hurled from the rooftop of three-story Purvanchal Sekuwa Corner by Yuvraj Giri and left dead, the report said, quoting hotel owner Manju Dhakal.
The Mission expressed concern over delayed investigation over arresting absconding ones following the incident. Therefore, government needs to form judicial commission immediately to probe the murder and cater justice to the victims and action on culprits, the FNJ said, adding that victim's side need to be provided compensation. The high level media mission was led by FNJ Chairman Gaunle.
