Farmers in Kailali, who were busy harvesting wheat farming, have been disappointed after the rainfall on Saturday caused damages to the crops in the farmland. The downpour triggered heavy losses to wheat cultivated in the huge area, said Ganesh Pandey, a farmer of Beladevipur VDC. The climate in the local area has emerged to be unfavourable with the clouds coming from south-west direction for the past three days.
The rainfall followed by hailstorm that occurred in the mid part VDCs of the district, including Bhadani and Lalbojhi had damaged wheat farming in a huge scale.
Though the what produce this year was estimated to go up by around 15 per cent due to favorable weather, it could get slashed with the rain taking place during wheat harvesting time, said the District Agriculture Office. Wheat farming is stretched over 35,000 hectares of land in the district.
